the Moral of the story: It is expensive to buy, but Cheap to use!

After 25 years, what would be the value of these stuff!?

From left to right: Rolex Explorer I Ref 14270, I bought three watches in Singapore people's Plaza back in 1996 with HK$14,000 each,

Rolex Day Date Ref 18039 white gold, that was sold at $130,000.

Explorer II Ref 16570 was only $19,500, whereas the Louis Vuitton was $1,900.

What is the current market value after 25 years?
well,
The Explorer I is $32,000
The Day Date is $115,000
The Explorer II is $34,000
The Louis Vuitton is selling $1,500 ( at Brand Off)

The Moral of the message is:-

They are Expensive to buy, but cheap to use!

Hello Snob,

Lemme see ..... I bought my Seamaster 300 for $3000 USD. Two years later today, Chrono24.com listed nine of them for sale at an average price of $7781 USD ----- some of them are in terrible condition too.
That's an increase of 2.59 times in value within 2 years.
A few months ago, a SM300 selling on Ebay as a "parts watch" (the winding stem was broken, the crown came off, and the seller admitted repairs might be needed to get the watch running properly) sold for a final (unbelievable) price of $6068 USD. So I wonder how much my watch would fetch?
I luv my Omegas, hahahahahaahaaaaaa!!!

I'm not sure what went "wrong", Snob. My holy grail vintage chronograph (you know which one, right?) costed ~$2500 usd 4 to 5 yrs. ago, but now demands $7500 to over $10,000! I just can't afford it.
What went wrong? I can't say, except that vintage chronographs and dive watches are hot and people are crazy about them and willing to pay. As soon as your favourite vintage watch is featured on watch blogs and linked with some celebrities or race car drivers, the price would soar like mad. But I buy watches because I like the way they look, not because who wore them. I could care less if Jesus Christ wore them.
I guess my holy grail would remain elusive for quite some time to come.

Hi JTK, interesting topic, What watch Jesus Christ wears? LOL
yes, somehow the future price of the watches are not to be reasonable as they COULD be controlled with celebrities and stars of the Hollywood... See how Panerai grew in the past 15 years!
