A Watch Too Far

Recently I saw it again, an extraordinary movie…. A bridge Too far.

A film tells the story of the failure of Operation Market Garden during World War II, the Allied attempt to break through German lines and seize several bridges in the occupied Netherlands, including one at Arnhem, with the main objective of outflanking German defense in order to end the war by Christmas of 1944.

The ensemble cast includes Dirk Bogarde, Ryan O'Neal, James Caan, Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Edward Fox, Elliott Gould, Anthony Hopkins, Gene Hackman, Hardy Krüger, Laurence Olivier, Robert Redford, Maximilian Schell and Liv Ullmann. The music was scored by John Addison, who had served in the British XXX Corps during Market Garden.

Would this kind of cast be happened again? I cannot say impossible, but rather difficult, such as “Expendables 3”? It would be better it carries a better story.
I remember Robert Redford was wearing a Hamilton Military watch.

Nowadays, things are getting more expensive than you could afford, luckily the Chinese Economy was slow down at GDP 7%, or we will be suffering more as HK is though part of China, but our sluggish Government troubled by those democratic Filibusters who are tearing down the major decision making of HK infrastructure…

Sometimes I wish we could have a HK version of Lee Kong Yiew…that may change a bit the economy of HK.
I think economy is the locomotive for a democratic process development, say, if you go no rice to eat no home to stay, will you be meaningful to get your vote to choose your Executive officer?

Last two days , I dared to take out a bottle of Chateau Lafifte Magnum 1982, wow, the waiter grimed at me saying  USD$18,000 , is that too expensive to spend for next 5 hours’ Mouth lips pleasure!? Of course that Restaurant had already topped up a hefty mark up!

Finally I chose a Bottle of 2011 Caymus, one of my favorite Napa Valley selection after Opus One!
With that kind of money, I would like to invest on a Watch… that would stay with me for the next decades.

Friend of mine asking me what do you choose, again,  sorry that is another disappointing reply to him, I would choose a Rolex Day Date preferable in White gold. He is a Rolex Fan on sport models, Daytona, Submariner Comex…etc.

How about the new Rolex 2015 DD40, that could be one of the best watches money could buy!
Such as Ref 228239 with estimated MSRP HKD$282,700 (CHF 35,800).
Unless I get a very special Discount less 25% or I should say:  “A Watch Too Far!”
