What is my target!?
Ref 5513
The 5513 was produced from 1962 through June or so of 1990, which must be one of the longest continually produced Submariner in Rolex history. The reference 5513 was introduced in 1962, and replaced the reference 5508.

The reference 5513 used calibers 1520 and 1530. The caliber 1530 was used in both the 5513 and 5512 calibers for a time. The 5512 carried the C.O.S.C. certification while the 5513 using the same caliber DID NOT have the chronometer certification.

Today, the 5513 is one of the most collectable Submariners, and while it is still accessibly priced, market prices have almost doubled from 2003 to 2009.

Estimated price
5513 year 1965-1967 US$13,000 to 19,000

A Watch Too Far

Recently I saw it again, an extraordinary movie…. A bridge Too far.

A film tells the story of the failure of Operation Market Garden during World War II, the Allied attempt to break through German lines and seize several bridges in the occupied Netherlands, including one at Arnhem, with the main objective of outflanking German defense in order to end the war by Christmas of 1944.

The ensemble cast includes Dirk Bogarde, Ryan O'Neal, James Caan, Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Edward Fox, Elliott Gould, Anthony Hopkins, Gene Hackman, Hardy Krüger, Laurence Olivier, Robert Redford, Maximilian Schell and Liv Ullmann. The music was scored by John Addison, who had served in the British XXX Corps during Market Garden.

Would this kind of cast be happened again? I cannot say impossible, but rather difficult, such as “Expendables 3”? It would be better it carries a better story.
I remember Robert Redford was wearing a Hamilton Military watch.

Nowadays, things are getting more expensive than you could afford, luckily the Chinese Economy was slow down at GDP 7%, or we will be suffering more as HK is though part of China, but our sluggish Government troubled by those democratic Filibusters who are tearing down the major decision making of HK infrastructure…

Sometimes I wish we could have a HK version of Lee Kong Yiew…that may change a bit the economy of HK.
I think economy is the locomotive for a democratic process development, say, if you go no rice to eat no home to stay, will you be meaningful to get your vote to choose your Executive officer?

Last two days , I dared to take out a bottle of Chateau Lafifte Magnum 1982, wow, the waiter grimed at me saying  USD$18,000 , is that too expensive to spend for next 5 hours’ Mouth lips pleasure!? Of course that Restaurant had already topped up a hefty mark up!

Finally I chose a Bottle of 2011 Caymus, one of my favorite Napa Valley selection after Opus One!
With that kind of money, I would like to invest on a Watch… that would stay with me for the next decades.

Friend of mine asking me what do you choose, again,  sorry that is another disappointing reply to him, I would choose a Rolex Day Date preferable in White gold. He is a Rolex Fan on sport models, Daytona, Submariner Comex…etc.

How about the new Rolex 2015 DD40, that could be one of the best watches money could buy!
Such as Ref 228239 with estimated MSRP HKD$282,700 (CHF 35,800).
Unless I get a very special Discount less 25% or I should say:  “A Watch Too Far!”

Panerai Will Reduce Price again coming Monday, how about other Watches?

Watch Price Reduction in HK

Reason behind,  Euro is depreciating against the strong Green backs, and those Big Spenders from China is moving away to Europe, Japan  for spending their money with better Respect from the host.

There were a lot of people destroying the Hong Kong's reputation as Paradise of Shopping!  :(

Led by this Big Trend Setters Panerai for larger watch made a decision to reduce MSRP 5% on 1 Feb 2015

The Swiss Watch Giant, the holy Patek Philippine annoyed many people including those gray dealers yelled and cried by reduction of heft 20% on 10 Feb 2015.
Cartier 7% on 15 April 2015
Who else in the line?

Chanel did already!

Yes, Panerai Will further reduce their price by 5% on 20 April 2015  (Monday)

Who else? I think Piaget will reduce 10% on 20 April Monday.

But AP has increased some of the watches by HKD$6,000 back in Feb!

How about Rolex? still King of the Price Fortress, no intention to INCREASE, or DECREASE…

So when you buy you next Watch, think again, there is always no fund when you buy a Watch saving up breakfast money for 1 month, suddenly the MSRP price drops 15% in the next morning…. Oh My Watch!

If that is shoes or clothes, I am happy to hear as that is not investment, for a USD$30,000 watch, that is really Crazy Sales, if they reduce price by 20%!

Rolex OysterQuartz Ref 19048 with Diamond Bezel and Diamond Dial on Sale

I believe you have seen a lot of Oyster Quartz in this blog, it doe s not mean that is common and easy to get. Rolex had produced 1,000 Oyster Quartz Watch a year since the 25 years between 1977 and 2003. Rolex had produced not more than 25,000 pieces over the 25 years of production.

And I could estimate 50% of them were Date Just made with stainless steel, 30% of them are Date Just Two Tone, and Rest 20% in Yellow gold and White Gold. Yellow Gold may be 15% and White Gold 5%.
And I think Yellow Gold with Diamond bezel and Diamond Dial is less than 200 Pieces.

In Hong Kong, this is the second pieces I have seen, the other one was Day Date with Black dial showing at display window in Lung Shing Watch and jewelry asking HKD$89,000 with no box. And It was sold recently.

So this is One of them Ref 19048, it is in 18KT yellow old, set with Rolex Diamond bezel 44 pieces and Diamond dial. A Quartz Movement made by Rolex with superb reliability and accuracy, One battery cell can keep accurate time on the Day Date for min. 24 months, I have set a practice to change a new battery every two years, In fact you can walk into RSC to ask for battery Replacement free.

This watch comes with unpolished case, full bracelet length, and a very special oyster Quart Wooden Box.

The Selling is asking HKD$90,000 cash, if you are interested, please contact me.

The Thirteenth for exchange of the lost Twelve Disciples!

Audemars Piguet A-Series Royal Oak, the Top Five Wine, plus Echezeaus, Petrvs, Angelus, Lascases and Lafleur.

My Thirteen Disciples
I used to enjoy wine and I have consumed probably 1,000 bottles since I was addicted in 2007. Well, It is a gathering and or celebration that allows me  a Reasonable Reason to open some of the bottles.

From the buckets of corks I selected 12 bottles which I call “ Twelve Disciples”!

Namely these are wine we should not missed;- Petrus, Lafifite, Mouton, Haut Brion, Lascases, Margraux , Angelus, Laflueur.

Of course there are still many good wine such as the New World's, Australian, and those Nepa Valley's Chavis, Caymus…etc.

Why I call Thirteen Disciples as the Aedumars Piguet is the Thirteenth Disciple, the cost of is just equivalent of the twelve bottles, now it may worth USD $26,000.

The Royal Oak was Bottled in 1972 with a new Oak Barrel which was not a very good year for Bordeaux but it is an excellent Vintage for Audemars Piguet.

Well, time has changed, my income does not allow me to spend too much on these “Fermented Grape Juice”, but once in a while I try to open some of the good one with friends…only male, I hardly could find a finery lady who could appreciate wine with me.

Sad! as after wine, the closest next topics is pillow talk, then sex!

Wine is another excellent Investment items but all you have to store in some recognized cellars in London or France, as no one will trust your storage unless they are from Tong Ying Nin.

Now the twelve disciples have joined into my blood stream and only leaving the Thirteenth with me.

I hope one day it can create another Twelve Disciples with the sacrifice of the Thirteenth!

Remember this legendary commercial episode, the bottle facing you is an Angelus, may be 1989!

The lady was talking about James Bond's watch is it Omega or Rolex?  Wonderful script!

How much Rolex has paid for this screen shot?  I don't know, probably in the range of a 1-2 Millions or you can WhatsApp CFO of Rolex to confirm.

Happiness and Joy is Everything!

Happiness and Joy

Happiness and Joy
Definition of happiness and joy to me sometimes is similar, as one day I open my Webster Dictionary to find out more about it.

They say:
Happiness is an emotion in which one experiences feelings ranging from contentment and satisfaction to bliss and intense pleasure.
Joy is a stronger, less common feeling than happiness. Witnessing or achieving selflessness to the point of personal sacrifice frequently triggers this emotion. Feeling spiritually connected to a god or to people.
So Happiness is to me pleasure and satisfaction to have material related?

Joy is something higher in terms of Spiritual level?

But I can assume that the materialistic pleasure when the Shop manager wiping your AMEX card with that magnificent sound “Shweeepppp…”  nowadays, we cannot find  anymore AMEX card printing machine,  is now replaced by cheap thermal paper printer… No class at all! And there is no sound at all.

No one notices that I had jutst wipped my card for an USD$20,000 watch!

Well, not until recently I was told that there is planet 1,000,000 times large that the Earth, and there is another planet which is even 1,000,000 times larger… I am too small in the life of this universe and After all I will be a piece of dust in the air… sad hmm…

Life is short, try to make yourself in anywhere, anytime with anyone with Happiness and Joy!

Let’s forget the debt, you should forget my debt to you too!

Each Day when you wake up, plan for the days for more happy and joyful event!
That is the Target of the DAY!

I hate this card wiper machine - No Class and Cheap

My Advice to Watch Boutique, find the Classic Credit card machine, add electronics amplifier to boost the mechanical

Hong Kong Watch Fever's travelling Kit

These are the items I used to carry when I travel.
Tie, Shoes, Socks, handkerchief, Card Holder (ACM with Satellite tracker), money Wallet, Pens, Chain, Tie Clips, passport holder etc. and a small bottle of “4711”.

They are all truly Value for Money. Such as my card holder which I have been using for 12 years.

I like the Rolex Passport holder, Montblanc Sterling Silver Model 149 fountain pen.

Watermans 1905 safety pen for my daily hand writing practice, it as a superb nib that no model pen can have.

A Dauphin Sterling Silver German ball pen.

18KY white gold Tie Clip with 0.3 Carat Diamond
A functional miniature Pipe Tie Clip made in Switzerland in the 50s!

Oh, I forget some CDs, as I can listen to some of the greatest music when I am about to turn in.

The bottle 4711, whenever I feel the stress, once I puff the pure scent of that magic water, I would feel relaxed!

Once I have appintment with a sophisticated lady, I would apply  two drops of 4711 on top my philtrum and forehead, immediatly it would hypnosize and transform myself to be a charismatic person of full confidence... BS? Try and see...

Most of all, a Decent watch. I don't have to use my watch to please the others, but myself!

No matter Roger Dubuis, Cartier, Frank Muller, Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Piaget…it represents my character and as a respect to my  customers of all kinds.

Wine and Watches,

Wine and watches

I like wine, so much as I like Watches, well, not until the other day I took out all the baskets of wine cork, surprising to know that since 2007 till now, I have opened more than 1,000 bottles.
Wine is also a fantastic experience, especial you are with some of your best friends who know how to drink, and having recommendation of good food to go!

I used to open a Half bottle of Red on Saturday evening whilst I chewed a roasted goose thigh from one Siu Lap Shop near my place. That could be one of the most delicious course of the week!

Does really Roasted Goose go with Red wine? Just I don't care so long you like it…

We take Champagne while we eat Oyster,  Or bite a Strawberry while you drink Champagne (Learnt from Richard Gere in the “Beautiful Woman”)

Rolex Ref 6694 1973 in super Condition Full Set.

Is older the wine the higher the value? Not necessary!

Is Older the watch, the higher the value! Not necessary too!

How about new watches? Will I have to wait for 20 years before you can sell it with profit?!
Not necessary! as it depends on the Watch

Like recently the PP 175th anniversay watches...
5175R-001 (7 pcs), 5975R-001 (400 pcs)
Rolex 116660 DeepSea D-blue...

But Definitely an older watch with good quality is always higher in price than a newer watch with same good quality under the same Make!

I don't know How much a Margaux 1900 costs, as I was told the wine is still “Too young “ to drink, preferable to be opened in 2020!

Is the first Day Date 1956 having a good value? Well, I think it should, if the watch is in good condition, with all Certificate, paper, box and seal.

Some Suggestion for our next HK Watch Fever gathering:
Bottle of good wine, roasted goose left leg, and some of the good decent men who bring his beloved watches to share his experience and tell us story about the watch…
Would it be fun!?

How about Yamazaki 21 years, it is OK to go with Roasted goose!?  I don't have the answer!

HK Snob
