Does a watch would indicate your taste, your personal and political Idealization!

Michael Tien wears a Rolex Date Just

Is James Tien's Watch Patek Philippe Nautilus?

These are Michael Tein Puk-Sun (1950) and James Tien Pei-Chun (1947) who is both actively a business man and as well members of two political parties in HK.
I have no comment on what they do to the benefit of People of HK but all I know they have different taste in Watch.
Michael used to wear Rolex Date Just stainless steel and his brother a Patek!

Side track
Note that they share the same Chinese Character “” for them but Elder James English name is “Pei” and younger Michael is “Puk”, during issue Birth certificate, the translation of Chinese Character had not established a standard. And like Family name , “Ip” sometimes, the translation is “Yip”.
Sally Yeh, 葉蒨文  sometimes written as Sally Yip or Yip Sin-Man, her family name is “Yeh” as she was from Taiwan. If you are born in Malaysia, they will be named as “Yap” wow, only one Family name will be split into so many different families of naming.. Should we unify them?

Take it! It 's a Rolex!

Danny's Watch in the film does not look like Rolex!

An interesting science fiction-comedy Movie Mars Attacks (1996) with big cast  Jack Nickoson. Glenn Close, Annette Bening, Pierce Brosnan, Danny DeVito, Sarah Jessica Parker, Natalie Portman, Tomes Jones, Lukas Haas, Rod Steiger, Michael J Fox, Lisa Marie and more. Directed by Tim Burton.
It all about the misunderstanding of the purpose of the Martian visiting the Earth, which ended in tragedy.
We found that the only way to kill Martians was to play Slim Whitman high pitch songs to make their heads explode.
Danny who was a lawyer wanted to surrender with his Rolex to free his life under the nozzle of the Martian’s gun, but he was shot death by the Martian…
Conclusion, Rolex is only Famous on Earth, but not yet in Mars!

A Perfect Watch WANTED

I am looking for a Perfect Watch.
It has a kind of taste, elegant, classic and be outstanding in style.
It should come with Solid Yellow Gold or White gold case.
It has to be very accurate, very practical watch without much care of it.
Moreover, it must be Automatic, it should be waterproof, not just water resistance.
It should have display of “Date”, or even “Day” will be preferred!
I don't mind Quartz movement but got to be super tough for the watch itself.

Oh, I almost forget, it should be 100% Swiss Watch!

Omega was used to be more expenisve than Rolex in the 60s... now it is reversed!

Rolex Ref 1601 DJ TT Pink Gold was sold in HK for HKD$1,846.00
I Sold this watch to someone or HKD$11,000 5 years ago

Was Omega more expensive than Rolex? And How about nowadays?

From some of the old watch collectors who kept saying that the 60’s Omega is more expensive than Rolex.  The Constellation was selling HKD$600 whereas a Date Just was HKD$450 at that time.

Whereas in the 70’s a Date Just two tone was selling at about HKD$1700 and similar Model of Omega Sea Master was selling HKD$1,600. (rough estimation from my memories!)

To the good Financial support of Poor middle class, The Pawn shop was offer a better price for Omega than Rolex. However till end 70 and start of 80, more and more promotion of Rolex had been launched in HK and World Wide that changed the situation.

The Rolex bubble back was selling US$141.75 to US$320 in 1946 in US and An Omega Centenary was selling US$450 in 1949. Omega was very expensive. As at that time Omega was very much accepted as the world most accurate timer, most of the Olympic games selected as official timers!

Until 80’s Rolex had been far pull away from Omega in the selling price as Rolex was gain much more VALUE as comparing with Omega.

In 1966, a Rolex DD yellow gold was just HKD$8,000.

In 1979 a Rolex Date Just two Tone 36mm was selling HKD$3,750

In 1989 a Rolex Date Just White Gold with leather strap was selling HKD$19,000 net after discount,

In 1992 A Rolex Date Just Solid Gold 34mm with gold Strap was selling HKD$60,000 net after discount.

After 1990, the price of Rolex and Omega under the similar category has a wide price gap, Rolex is much more expensive than Omega.

Another Interesting thing , We bought a British made Bush B/W TV in 1975, with HKD$1,100, and the same year a Rolex Two Tone Date Just was HKD$1,800.  In 1975, an average Worker salary is HKD$250!
If you keep the Rolex until Now, We can easily selling it sway with HKD$20,000, how about the TV?
Yes, you better scrap it as no one will buy.

Try to buy a Rolex Today, after 20 years, there is still a Big Value. If you buy a 150 inch Sharp LCD TV with LRGB LED Back light now, probably it is HKD$60,000, after 20 years. That TV value will be “Zero”!

Your Vintage Rolex will be the next target of collection by Chinese

China Watch Collector Will Look for some of the best Vintage Rolex DD after 5 years

When we collected LP (12” Vinyl) in Hong Kong some 10 years ago, a typical Teresa Tang Japanese edition was selling from Shop to me at an average HKD$500-800.

Now we cannot buy at all, even you can find it, the price is in the range of HKD$1,800-4,000. Simply because there is huge demand from the rich Chinese who is able to appreciate those beautiful voices of Teresa and Trasi Chin.  We know the HK record shops, we can always seeing China buyer (dealer) who come to buy all those record with Cash.

When more middle class people who could really appreciate the best of Rolex, the Day Date, we could speculate that after a few years, there will be more people, collector, dealer who could possible come to buy the best of Rolex in HK, Singapore and USA.

Well, for those super rich people, they are looking those highest price watch through Auction. The volume purchase will be those Middle Class peoples as this is the fun for searching watches, not much after you buy it. Like in 1995-2000, Japanese Tourists used to come HK to find those Vintage Rolex.

China buys all stuff in the past 5 years, HK’s home, Rolex, Luxury goods like bag, shoes, gold.  The level of Chinese in appreciate good stuff will escalate with time, I believe more and more educated middle class will come to search for Good legendary Watches that include Rolex Day Date. Let’s prepare and keep you watch safe… ready to witness your watch price go appreciation!

China seen as “Confident,’ “belligerent” and even “Arrogant” by recent Global Times newspaper's suyvey! :(

China seen as “Confident,’ “belligerent” and even “Arrogant” by recent Global Times newspaper
There is a negative images created by certain so call survey by the “ Global Times” on 10 Dec. who selected a few counties like United States, Russian, Japan, India, Vietnam, South Korea, South Africa Britain, Brazil and the Philippines.
That survey of 14,400 people in 14 countries, 30.3% of respondents called China “confident” in international affairs, with 29.4% describing it is as “belligerent” whilst “Complicated” was chosen by 28.1%..
People describe China with words such as “tough”, “arrogant” and “cooperative”, chosen by 25% of respondents.
China has long been embroiled in disputes with its neighbors, particularly Japan and the Philippines, over Diao Yu islands in the East and South China Sea. There had been numerous national map describing “Diao Yu”  island back to 1500.
Yesterday Chinese newspaper in Manila mentioned that the Japanese is doing tricks to work with the Philippines to change the Official saying to those 8 deaths in Manila Hostage families, from “Apology” to “Sorrow”…
Very obvious those major counties are those who would be the beneficiates if there is global image of China is jeopardized.
Look at the 2,000 years of histories, Did China had any single case of trigger started war to the neighbor countries!?
Look at the past 150 years Histories who countries in the about list had more than once invaded Countries in the world…
Look at fact. Who claims they are the world power or police, and in fact who is the bad guy, who killed the leaders of Iraq, Liberia, and Egypt!? Who Bombed the Embassy of China? Who is the real trouble maker of the war? Who started 911 WTC incident?
Who has justice in law as a 14 years old poor black kid killed one guy by his car was sentenced to 10 years, and Etan Couch who is 16 and drunk to crash his pickup to kill 4 people, but he was said to be Affuenza case and is under psychological treatment for one year without any sentence under the bars, as he is from a rich white family!
Yes you know the answer, when someone is growth bigger, stronger and larger... many people will envy start the evil craws to stir it up.
Don't forget China had 25% of the Worlds’ total GDP in 1820, and at that time. Who is the world leader? however due to Ching’ corrupted Sovereign, those foreign Western countries  came to China to rob, burn, steal, kill and occupy….
Remember, if China is in trouble of WAR, who will suffer? And Who evil will be smiling?

Is this a Fake Rolex Ref 16610LV!?

Is this a Real Rolex!?
Today Friend of mine brought me a Picture and said how much the watch is!?

I told me it is about HKD$400 at most. He said no… this is a Rolex, I told me “No. this is a fake one!”

He said how could I tell?
The one on the left is Ref16610LV Submariner,  discontinued item from Rolex, Selling in Cebu at Peso 1,500 (HKD$250)

The one in the Right is Ref 116610LV current production selling in HK, HKD$66,100. There is Rolex and S/N number marked on the inner bezel.

Though they are of different model, but the outlook and dimension is same for the authentic one.

These are the key points we can tell about them.

A.  The While bezel Indicator should be flat, the fake one is dome shape, The White Dot should be sitting at Midst of the triangle for the real one.

B.  The Real one is 2.5X Cyclops Magnification, the fake one is just about 1.5X. So the Date looks smaller on the fake one.

C.  The Silkscreen printing of the words is too crowded for the fake one, the one on the right is clear and Sharp!

D. The Rolex Logo is laser marked under the sapphire crystal for the real one, and it should not too easy to be seen you have to look carefully under a magnifying glass. And that Logo should be sitting right at 6’ O’clock position.

The fake one appears to be printed as it looks BLACK, and it too big , shifts to the right of the 6 O’clock position.

More over the White hour Dot is bigger on the right Real  one. Overall speaking, the bezel on the right is perspective, we can feel it, the fake one is a printed on bezel.

This is the Rolex Quality that you could by with HKD$66,100!  No Compromise!

Everybody Said Hoo! Hoo!

Everybody said hoo! hoo!
Anita Mui was a HK Legend, she is a star, and who could be the next great singer after her death?
She left so many good music and songs to us to enjoy, to recall, laugh and to wipe.
She has a large eye carrying some sort of misery,  a prominent nose, having no body shape like Pamela, but she is always the sexist woman in my mind, Yes, she is my idol!
Today I picked up her signature CDs and listened, It was a new surprise. If you had this CD, try to understand every word she sings.
Life could not be happier as all it takes is how you look at it, I like its lyrics  especially” Everybody said Hoo! Hoo!
If you had this CD, listen the song No. 3… no words could describe what Anita sings….a perfect voice, light jazz music with the way she translate on what she was thinking. A thoughtful day to me I think.
Guess what Rolex She likes Most? Yes, it is Daytona!

The CD was a 1994 Johnny Chen Production.

I am a CD and Vinyl Collector beside a Watch Collector.
