During this “situation” in Hong Kong whereas a place for 40% of Swiss watches importer, price has dropped a lot since June 2019.
In average, Rolex new watch drop for 10-12%.
Those hot items already selling at premium such as Submariner 116610LN, Daytona. 11650LN, Pepsi 126810BLRO, Batgirl 126710BLNR, Seadweller 126600.
Patek
Patek is 10-18% drops for those hot model Nautilus 5712, 5711, 5980, 5990.

VR
What is the vintage Rolex segment, less affected, it might drop 2-3% in general
those are different as they are getting less and less everyday so the price will Getting up
Higher everyday, though at a slower pace.

What should we do?
- rich people gets the best out of it as they can have more choice to buy with less money.
- average collector should keep monitoring state to see what is best in market with little fund on hands.

They are unaffected as still they don’t have stock for you!
No matter you line up on the waiting list of a Submariner or Seadweller, they always say no stock
Well CTF is selling at SRP to their VIPS
ORIENTAL AND UNIQUE is selling at premium.
Dickson is also selling at premium.

Don’t call me asking when where you can buy at SRP as I really don’t know!

If I know I would hesitate to buy it myself, right?

Price of Rolex in September 2019

It is September, Hong Kong's Protest hasn't come to an end yet.
Well, I always believe China had it Option B, Option C standby.
Don't Under estimate the China Power to take Hong Kong as the second consideration instead of first.
And The US-China Trade war will last for year till Trump's next election.
Going into the September, the picture is not yet clear on the pricing of Rolex, Patek and AP.
Well, it is still maintained at a Reasonably level,


People started to ask me if this is the time to buy Rolex at premium price, well, I bought at highest price that is why I will not buy, but if you can afford to and if you like it, should be OK to buy.

Watch price in Hong Kong in August

Hong Kong is facing serious political convoy between some of the Hong Kong people and China.


Some of the Chinese restaurants are closed as they have no business in Saturday and Sunday at the protest area. Visitors are not willing to come to Hong Kong.


People is hesitated to spend money on Luxury goods including watches.


Watch price had been dropped more than 10% over the new or vintage Rolex.

Nautilus hot models price has been dropped over 15% even.


Hope that this is a short term only and Wish watch price would be stabilized by September.

Recent Price drop may be due to the saturation of Japan Import gray dealers' Rolex

Story was told that certain large batch of import Rolex is not paying the right tax through the right channel, and Big dealers are not taking any import gray dealer's watches as they might have not traceable  source information. Would be afraid of paying tax.


So the number of Watches going back to the market of Hong Kong and other Asian countries, so the supply is more than a few months ago.


So that is why we see few percent like 2% to 4% price drop on dealer watch price... Rolex is the major affected brand.


This may be sustained for a while and I keep an eye on the model, so long if that is discontinued model or with sticker should be good to keep for a while.

Watch Price update July 2019

Recent Rolex, Patek hot item price has been little bit lowered 2%-3% in June.
That may be an indication of what HK current situation on too many unsold stock from the dealer. As someone may still hold up a lot Batman Oyster, Batman Jubilee, Hulk, Daytona Ceramic White. Other cause of price adjustment may be due to incoming Summer vacation. a lot of people is going for foreign country for vacation and they delay the purchase of watches till August or September watching of the price will be lower or not. As for longer term say second half of the year 2019, I don't think price will be further drop again, may be after September, the price will g up again to the level of May 2019, until next year Feb that people will keep an eye on the new release of Rolex, and many speculation n the discontinuing of Hulk in 2020, new release of Explorer II Ceramic...If you think you like it try to wait at AD, or if you can't wait , go for gray dealer, as it may be wise not to go into this price competition buying at such a high price. What Rolex Should I start with!?

Many of a friend asked me what should I start for a Rolex?

Well, I had been questioned this from Colleagues, and friends, and I say, all depends what is your purpose of buying a Rolex?

Most of the replies are buying a watch that he can use and at same time can keep the value for long period of time…say 10-15 years.

Whilst price of Rolex is getting crazy.. what is a beginner should start with!?

Well, when the World economy is not that bad, HSI is 30,000 points whereas the real estate price is highest in the world since 2000,  $10m cannot buy a 1,000 square foot flat in the town… what is the difference in a price up of $20000 for a Batman? Nothing to them.

Well, people laughed at me on my facebook when I said price of Batman would hit HK$90000 in May 2018,  I can ask this gentleman to look at the price of a Batman now, well, someone is asking $135,000!

And actual transaction os about $128000… Some dealer carries over 50 Batmans in his vault….

They aren’t stupid as they also bought them at a premium…no one is able to get a SRP price for Batman…. Except those Super Big Spender who used to buy jewelry or gold 0.5m a month like we buy a piece of Pizza!

Another day, there is someone saying that who will buy a stainless steel Daytona ceramic with $190,000?

He would buy a white gold Daytona which is probably $40,000 on top of it… He does not understand that people keep buying a Hermes bag when price is increased, that is to tell them can afford… and they like to use luxury predict with price keeping up.

If one day Rolex sales giving you a less 20% discount to clear all the sport watch,,, then that is the day you can buy Rolex in SRP… But will that be possible!?

Rolex is good in manipulating the balance of Supply and demand… though Rolex is really expanding their production capacity to fulfill those angry customers on the long waiting list…

So what is your expected price for a Batman up to? I think it is still possible $140,000.

When the new Batman with Jubilee is in the market , the price is $150,000

Another question on price of Daytona Ceramic 116500LN

I think Black will go up to $175,000 and White $195,000 by June 2019.

One key thing you should know is, nowadays, it is almost impossible to buy Rolex at SRP (List price or Supplier Recommended Price) at AD (Authorized Dealer) for sport model.

If you decide to go for a previously-owned Rolex, you need to be sure about its histories such as any problem, defect, and its authenticity. Buying from a renowned Seller is suggested. From there, you can ask yourself if you want a Rolex that is dressy, sporty, casual or a little on the flashy side. The price tag also depends on the model and the features you want in the watch.

What are the Rolex Sport models?

Yacht Master II, Explorer II, Daytona, Submariner, Sea Dweller, GMT Master II, Sky Dweller, Air King and Milgauss.

Non Sport Model is Day Date, Perpetual Oyster, Date Just, and the Cellini.

Price and Discount in Hong Kong

All Rolex watch under the same model carries the Same SRP price in all AD shops as this is controlled by Rolex.

Discounts

All Sport model might not be offered any discount now at AD.

Well, to my understanding, there is some exceptional cases that if you are the SVIPs as you may buy another watch or jewelry item worth Half a Millions the same time you buy the Rolex.

New Rule since November 2018.

All Rolex watches are require to put name of the purchaser on the name card,

The White tag carries the S/N number of the watch had to be confiscated by the Manager

The manager will put done the Date of the purchase on the Warranty card

All the sticker on the watch have to be removed

And the bracelet has to be resized a nd you are required to wear it immediately to leave the Shop.

Also they have t take a picture on the resized watch and the filled up warranty card and that picture will be sent to Rolex HQs in Hong Kong.

Price Adjustment

There are two major price adjustment, one is Nov 2012 for all Rolex Model increased by 3-5%

The other time was August 2014 that only few Sport models price were increased by 3 to 6 Percent.

Only till 31 Jan 2019, all Rolex model price were increased from HK$2000, to HK$30,000

With exception that the model GMT Master II White Gold Pepsi Ref 116719BLRO decreased from HK$297,900 to HK$286,800!

Market Price

Due to Demand and supply not in balance, also a lot of people going to invest on Rolex after they surrender in purchase of the home in HK, as House in Hong Kong has been the world No. 1 highest since 2011.  An average hone will take us 19 years annual income to buy!

Daytona Ceramic Ref 116500LN white is now selling at HK$188,000  which is 1.94X the SRP HK$96,700

GMT Master II Pepsi Ref 126710BLRO is selling at HK$131,500 which is 1.8X the SRP HK$72,700

Batman GMT Master II Ref 116710BLNR is now selling at HK$107,000 which is 1.53X the SPR HK$69,600

Submariner Single Red Ref 126600  is selling HK$106,000 which is 1.19X the SRP of HK$88,500

Submariner Ceramic Ref 116610LN is selling HK$79,000 which is 1.189X SRP of HK$66,400

Discontinued Model

Rolex Manager told me that Explorer II has been discontinued. Though He is a manager but Rolex seldom announce that certain Model will be discontinued till the Release of the new Model. So let’s watch out at Basel World 2019.

Explorer II

2018 was the 65th anniversary of the Submariner and the Explorer Ref 214270. Obviously both anniversaries went by unobserved. In fact, I'm not aware of any anniversary model that wasn't a 50th-year tribute - I'm not aware of any significant anniversaries next year. The Explorer II turns 50 in 2021, so it might make sense for Rolex to hold off on any changes in that model until then.  Ceramic Explorer II may come with ceramic Bezel for the first time by 2020

Submariner

I think the Submariner will get some attention in 2019. I think that the Submariner's current 3135 movement will get replaced with the new 3285 movement that was placed in the new Pepsi. The new Model shall be 216610LN with 70 hour power reserve and may have a slightly tapered lug transition to bracelet. The other not new in 2018 but current GMTs still have the 3186 movement.

GMT Master II

Will there be a Coke Version released this year, I am not too sure, may not be in this year.

Daytona

I cannot think of what major changes could take place on the Current Model 116500LN!

Supply to Watch Buyer

Still Rolex has a high production still cannot supply enough to the Rolex Fans…. So price will be still up in the SKY

Will you imagine that a Daytona Steel would be going to the price of HK$195,000 ? Possible and soon!

How Many Rolex Watches were made a year?

Nobody outside Rolex (or Wilsdorf foundation) knows the exact number of Rolex Watch made each year, but our estimated number is between 800,000 and 950,000 a year. As remembered that Rolex had reduced 50% of Sport models in 2017.  We also think that Rolex control its number as dynamic, which means they can go up and down depending on the economic climate, demand situation or price control. We’ve seen some years that weren’t easy, probably also not for Rolex. It makes us a bit hard to convince that Rolex is not able to fulfill the demand for these stainless steel models such as the Submariner and GMT-Master. In my opinion, Rolex Simply does not want to make vast expansion on production because Rolex Does not need to be responsible for his share-holders as Rolex is a private company!

How Do I look at the Rolex as for Investment?

Well, I think there is possibility Hulk will be discontinued this 2019 after its first appearing on 2010, Sorry We say this every year but it seems the Hulk never Die, LOL!

Batman instead was introduced in 2014 but up to now its price is even higher than Hulk in the open market! Why? Because rumor is that will be discontinued, again this may be rumor only.

But the fact is Batman is selling in the market HK$107,000 whereas Hulk is priced at HK$102,000.

I think these are the best Rolex investment for 2019.
