God, Please give me one more minute...

God, Please give me one more minute to say again “I love you!” to my brother.

"I don't wish you all sort of gifts.

I just wish you what most people don't have:

I wish you the time to be happy and to laugh

and if you use it, you can make something out of it.

I wish you the time for your doings and thinking,

not only for yourself, but also to give away to others.

I wish you the time - not to hustle and run

but the time to be contented.

I wish you the time, not to pass just like that

I wish that some of it may be left for you

as a time to marvel and trust

instead of just looking at the time on your watch.

I wish you the time to reach for the stars

and the time to grow, to mature

I wish you the time to hope and to love

There is no sense in putting this time off.

I wish you the time to find yourself to see happiness in each day and each hour.

I wish you the time also to forgive. I wish you the time to live.                     Elli Michler

I wish you had time even one more minute such that I can say one more time “Peter, I love you forever!”

Remembrance to my beloved younger brother Peter who passed away last night.

Buying time: HKWF’s recommendations of watches under 100k (HKD)

1.      IWC Portugieser Automatic 7 Days

The IWC Portugieser Automatic 7 Days is one of the most popular IWC models seen on the wrists of watch enthusiasts.

At a little less than 43mm, the watch has a very proper size without being too small. It gives you enough wrist presence with the very well-polished and shaped case. The thickness of 14.5 mm makes it also a watch for sportier occasions.

With formal attire, this watch complements your looks very well as the dial is finished with classic Arabic numerals. The two sub-dials display the running seconds and the power reserve, which, when fully-wound, is 7 days. At 6 o’ clock is the date window and the watch comes with a very well made alligator strap. You can also buy Santoni alligator straps from IWC. They are very impressive straps with patina you will not see elsewhere.

2.      Panerai Pam442

Panerai has been in vogue for a long time. It has brought to the world of horology some very cutting-edge elements. For example, watch size has revolutionized because of this brand. Vintage-style watch dials and patina colored numerals are also two elements brought by the brand.

The Pam422 is a very loyal iteration of the brand’s deep-rooted history with the military. The watch comes with a domed sapphire crystal and a polished bezel and case. At 47mm, it is absolutely a watch to behold when worn.

It has a manual-wound movement on which a power reserve indicator is located and can be seen through the sapphire case back. The hands are gold in color and they complement the beige numerals. This is a fun watch to have as you can wind the watch looking at the power reserve indicator and get a taste of history on your wrist. The watch comes with a Panerai assolutamente strap which is very finely textured.

3.      Rolex Deep Sea D-blue

The Rolex Deep Sea D-blue has been a very popular watch since its release in 2014. The watch has a gradient blue-black dial with green letters “DEEPSEA”. The color combination has successfully revived a watch that would otherwise be a dull big brick on your wrist. Surely the black dial version is good looking as it looks professional.

However, the D-blue looks obviously more interesting. The ceramic bezel stands out more as there is color contrast between the dial and the bezel. The bracelet comes with the Glidelock clasp which is very useful. You can adjust the bracelet according to your wrist’s conditions. The 44mm case with its 18mm thickness together gives you very good wrist presence. It is indeed a heavy watch and a watch that can hardly go unnoticed.

The price of this watch will not drop too much due to limited supply. So, it is one of the best watches to retain its value.

4.      The Rolex Daytona 116520

What!? The 116520? What about the 116500ln? The new Daytona Ceramic?
Unfortunately, the 116500ln cannot be bought below 100k. So, if you do not have a Daytona yet and do not want to pay a premium for the new Daytona Ceramic, you can go for the 116520.

To many people, the price for a stainless steel Rolex should never exceed 100k. The new Daytona Ceramic is great but some of us may find it a bit expensive. The 116520, on the other hand, has been discontinued. That means the price of this watch will not go down. It is a very good investment for you at this moment when you can still easily find NOS 116520. As one of the most iconic Rolexes for 16 years, the 116520 is worth your money.

5.      The Jaeger-Lecoultre Geophysic True Second Universal Time

This is the watch for you if you travel a lot. Even if you don’t, this is also the watch to have below 100k. In short, this is a world-timer with a mechanical movement while the second hand ticks instead of sweeps. The rotor is in solid gold. At 40mm, this watch offers a lot.

It is an interesting thing to behold when you see how the mechanical movement actually makes the second hand tick instead of sweep. The dial is finely executed with a world map on it. It will be your best travel companion.

My new Traveling kit

Friends of mine knew about my loss of the card holder which contained 4 credit cards, HKID card and China Re-entry card as my wife threw away my ragged backpack with the card holder after my exhausted hiking. Of course she did not blame herself instead scolded me why I was so careless!
Moral of this message, Don't win the argument and lose the relationship!

Well, I just got my new HKID card and the Brand New credit cards.... My second ACM card holder is in service now.

I used to carry a Rolex leather passport holder, and some of the favourite Rolex DD OQ with me...when I travel.

Watch Dealer’s HK$2M stolen in Air from Middle East to HK

A Turkish watch merchant who flew into Hong Kong 2 May from the Middle East could be the victim of the biggest inflight theft after HK$2 million worth of foreign currency and valuables was stolen from his Y- class cabin baggage stowed in an overhead compartment.

Mustasa Saci, 39, arrived on an Emirates flight from Dubai early yesterday morning and it was only after he disembarked that he realized the money and valuables in his bag were missing, He sought help from airline staff who called police shortly after 6am.

“Initial investigation showed US$200,000 and two luxury watches – a Rolex and a Patek Philippe – were stolen from his bag and the total value was about HK$2 million,” a source with knowledge of the investigation said. It was understood Saci was seated in economy class and was on a business trip.

In the first 10 months of last year, there were 67 reports of thefts on flights into Hong Kong, with HK$4.83 million stolen. That compared with 48 cases and HK$2.61 million in losses for the whole of 2014.

“They scouted their prey before boarding and placed their own bags in the same overhead bins their targets used,” he said. “They searched through travel bags and luggage in the lockers when the owners were asleep or in the toilet.”

Moral of this news is, and my opinion.

1. Whenever you fly long haut flight, don't leave the brief case out of your eye sight.

2. Don’t sleep, as most of the time, they steal it when you are asleep.

3. Ask someone you know to keep an eye when you go rest room

4. Use good security case like Caseva Security brief case are designed to the highest standards and feature accredited locking systems.

5. Tumi’s Bulletproof Briefcase is an expensive executive accessory (US$6,000)

6. Chinavision Fingerprint Security Briefcase keeps your money safe through biometrics

7. Send money to other side of the destination first, don't carry too much cash.

8. If more than 1M dollar, hire me as your personal security guard.

9. Sit at Business class seems to me more secure.

10. Don't talk to sexy ladies as they may be some kind of well-trained Bond Girl.

It was understood that such thieves usually took aisle seats towards the rear of the aircraft.

Bon-Voyage!

A diver is meant to dive, so as the diver Watch!?

Rolex DeepSea D- Blue Ref 116660 Super Diving Watch

A diver is meant to dive!

We all treasure our Rolex watches. They are expensive and precious. They represent our hard work and they are a symbol of status. Seldom do we put our Rolex in dangerous situations. The Rolex Submariner is an icon of modern Rolex. It is 300m water-resistant. But of course wearers do not really dive with it. Some people may wash it with water but that is probably the most “dangerous” situation it may face.

So, how about leaving your Rolex in the sea for 14 months? Do you dare even thinking about it? Do you expect the watch still works?

The story goes like this.

A gentleman went fishing in British Colombia while the bracelet of his Rolex two-tone Submariner was somehow snagged on his fishing rod (I don’t know how he did that). The Submariner flew into the sea and quickly disappeared. As the gentleman knew the watch must be somewhere within the area he fished, he located the area with GPS (Prompt action it is! We normally just panic!). Later, he paid local dredging 85USD per hour in the hope of finding the watch somewhere. **

After 14 months, the watch was found in the middle of debris and sediments at the depth of about 100m. After some winding, the watch still worked!

We can learn a few things from this story.

First, a Rolex is usually very tough. So, if you have ever scratched your watch and yelled for a polish, stop and wear your watch like a hero because a Rolex is meant to be scratched, especially a diver.

Second, Rolex sports watches are true tool watches. They can withstand extreme situations. If you think your bracelet is too loose or too tight and go to RSC requesting for a change or repair, you should never do it again. Wear your watch happily. Picking on Rolex’s quality is an easy thing to do while making a diver that still works after 14 months in the sea is hard.

Third, wearing a Rolex makes you think faster. If it had been a Seiko that had fallen into the sea, the gentleman would not have thought of the idea of locating the area with GPS and recording it.

Fourth, Always remember to tighten the crown properly with a push, hold and align the thread by anticlockwise say 90 degree and then clockwise to tighten up. This preserves the misalignment and cause damage on to the screw thread.

A diver is meant to dive. It is not meant to be worn in showers where some may worry that the watch will be damaged by water vapor. Go for a Day Date if you wear a suit. Haha Again ; Day Date!

**
I doubt with today current technology is that so simply to find a watch in the sea?

Is GPS can be located a watch of size of an egg in the sea bed?

Remarks

The GPS signal in space will provide a "worst case" pseudo-range accuracy of 7.8 meters at a 95% confidence level. (This is not the same as user accuracy; pseudo-range is the distance from a GPS satellite to a receiver.). Now the things is in the sea, should be more complicated…

Why MH307 is not found?

We should be happy...

How you find the culture of HK and Philippines?

When you stare at a beautiful lady in Hong Kong for more than 0.5 second, immediately her face will change black and she may give you dirty eyes!

When I stare at a beautiful lady in Manila, usually she smiles at you bas return.

When I saw someone wearing a nice watch and I ask him to show me., well, they would, at least so far I have asked five people and all they would…and One time even the gentleman took it off and pass to me, that was a Solid Gold Rolex Day Date Oyster Quartz, (the first one sold in the Philippines with USD$5,000 back in 1977)

If you ask the same in Hong Kong, I bet there will happen…

50% that the man will say “Sorry, No!”

10% of the people will give you his middle finger! Perhaps… well, there is 10% of nice decent people will share his watch with you… ! Even though, I will not do so in Hong Kong!

Well, I fully understand the difference of culture and difference of the people who live in different world. Philippines is a lands of smile and paradise and Hong Kong a rich place but many of the people are so much suspicious about the other motive…

Everyone wears a mask to go to work, and there is so much stress for most of the people living in this place.

I was happy in the past except the last ten years, I see the changes, people are living in a pressure cooker!

My boss of the company asked the hotel receptionists that if there were any women sleep with me ever at in my room?

What a pathetic life of you?….  Come on, what is my privacy!? Are you crazy!?  %%#$#!

Life is too short by time I write this my life calculator has already shortened by 30 minutes…

I think we should always happy… should we!?

Vomit heart and Splash Blood

Richard Mille and Yeezy Boots 350, what else!?

First things first; his is a Chinese slang for trying very very, very hard….that it seems like you have literally thrown out your own heart and spilled out your blood.

What do HKers vomit their hearts and splash their blood for? Freedom? A lawful society? Monster Parents, Political chaos, Democracy, Wealth? Fair treatment? You have overestimated us.

These are all very important but meanwhile lofty things to fight for. These things are noble. They are complicated. They are worth fighting for. But most of us are too paltry to chase after these world-changing values.

The red horse of one of HK Watch Fever friends

So, we work very hard for materialistic things. Rolexes, Ferraris, Lambros, Pateks, Piguets,……. Or very fine wine Petrvs and DRC? Which could cost a grass-root level person his monthly salary X10 times or X1000 times.

But we are never tired of chasing after these things. We work till we cannot. We sell what we can sell, just to buy what we will later sell. Everything can be bought by installments.

You know, flats can be bought through 30 years mortgages. Rolexes and Ferraris can be had through paying by installments. I doubt for some exotic Ferraris!?

I am not lucky not because I am not wealthy. I am lucky because I do not know much about other more extravagance other than watches, Pen, Vinyl, Hi Fi, good food, wine…LOL!

Whether one vomits his heart and splashes his blood for something because he likes it is important. If you do so because you want to satisfy your ego or vanity, then forget it, because both will never be satisfied.

Buying a Rolex or a Ferrari will make you happy. But not for long. You will eventually sell them and look for something new. Life, however, sometimes is built on such pieces of temporary happiness. Nothing in the material world is eternal.

So, if you are trying too very hard today just to own a Platinum Daytona, a Richard Mille or a Ferrari, please do realize that you are about to drop into a black hole. What you want will eventually come if you really do want it.

Sweetness is the end result of all endeavors. I myself work hard to buy my beloved watches. But, it is necessary to know when you are trying too hard. If you don’t, you may lose something priceless.

We all live in a world full of temptations. We all live in cities where even everything is not enough. Some people work their butts off to have a sip of Laffite. Some pay his annual salary for a Patek Philippe, these are real connoisseurs, they are not collectors .

These are all good impetus for us to work hard. But, if in your world there are only these things, you had better take a look at what is wrong. But don't worry, When one can have passion to such a watch that take your annual income, you are the real watch lover. Same as you can buy 3 month salary to buy a Bottle of DRC, well, you are real Wine taster!

So I am stingy, as I always trying to buy one good one instead of twenty so so one… that is not Chinese say: One Song to run all Karaokes… this is a really watch frantic and at same time Watch economist!

I met a young handsome Pinoy Alfonso who worn a pair of Yeezy Boot and a stunning Richard Mille RM-11 on his wrist at First Class Airline Lounge, he looked very causal having style and all I felt he is having Motivation to chase for what he loves…

Is that what “Passion” calls in positive way or “Materialized Spoiled brain” in negative way... whatever, nevertheless I think he enjoys life.

Vanity of vanities, Saith the Preacher, Vanity of vanities, all is vanity!

After all, if you don’t have a dream what is the difference between you and Tai O salted Ma Yau Fish!?
