Rolex Meteorite Dial 隕石面 Watches

Rolex Day Date Yellow Gold with Meteorite Dial

Rolex Day Date with meteorite Dial

Rolex Meteorite Dial 隕石面
Meteorites are bits of a Rock of the Solar System that have fallen onto the Earth. Most come from asteroids including a few that are believed to have come specifically from 4 Vesta which is the second most massive object in the asteroid belt.  A few probably come from comets.

No meteorite dials have the same pattern of crystals as another one and it varies as to what part of the meteorite the rough dial is cut from.  The inside piece where the cooling was slower the crystals are larger and more regular and from the outside of the piece where the cooling was faster, the crystals are smaller and more irregular.  These differences are what make meteorite watch dials uniquely beautiful and rare.  They are a perfect and beautiful one-of-a-kind enhancement for any Rolex watch.

As a Rolex Collector, user, a probably a watch connoisseur, beside the Stella Red, Brunswick green, Turquoise, Yellow, Havana Dial, Lapis Azuli, Onyx, Malachite, Grossular, Aventurine, Coral, Marble, Birch, Oak to make dial…This one seems has not too much being discussed as I had spent time verifying if the dial is really made from Stone that was flown from outer space to the Earth or not, the official reply is YES!

So if you wear a Rolex Daytona and I am wearing the same, that is Daytona, but if the one that has a Meteorite dial that is different.

Today when you buy Rolex, look for some special dial like this.. in One day, your Rolex might be recalled by NASA for some scientific study; as meteorites are our only material evidence of the universe beyond the Earth.

It probably carries a message from the Alien beyong the human civilization could understand.
The following Rolex with meteorite Dial is available in Rolex AD Hong Kong. Price listed below is Rolex List price. Discount varies from 5% to less 11% depending on availabilty and Rolex AD.

National Treasure and Rolex Submariner

Nicolas Cage wears Rolex Submariner in this Movie.

National Treasure
National Treasure is a 2004 American adventure heist film. It is the first film in the National Treasure franchise and stars Nicolas Cage. A historian races to find the legendary Templar Treasure before a team of mercenaries.

Cage plays Benjamin Franklin Gates, a historian and amateur cryptologist searching for a lost treasure of precious metals, jewelry, artwork and other artifacts that was accumulated into a single massive stockpile by looters and warriors over many millennia starting in Ancient Egypt, later rediscovered by warriors who form themselves into the Knights Templar to protect the treasure, eventually hidden by American Freemasons during the American Revolutionary War. A coded map on the back of the Declaration of Independence points to the location of the "national treasure", but Gates is not alone in his quest. Whoever can steal the Declaration and decode it first will find the greatest treasure in history.

Gates Said" I have this Divers' Watch, It is called Submariner!"

Time showns 2:22 on 100 Dollars Bank note, the Clue of the next Clue for treasure

Well, to find the right time that he had to go to the bell of the church. He recalled the time is printed on the 100 Dollar bank note, Gates had to asked the shopper keeper the bank note…
Gates said “Can I see one the hundred dollars bills I gave you!?
Shop lady said; “No!, Er!”
Gates, “Oh Well, ah, Here I have the diver’s Watch. It is called Submariner! As I dived with it, It is quite a value!

Nicholas Cages wears Rolex Submariner in the movie

There are two scene Gates had showed his Rolex Submariner in the movie, including he passed the watch to the shop lady in exchange of the 100 dollar bill!

Rolex with Leather Strap

Sometimes, we can use  NATO nylon strap or leather strap to replace the original stainless steel bracelet for those Rolex Sport model such as GMT master II, Submariner, Explorer..etc.

We can buy some of these Stainless steel buckles.

The Original Stainless steel buckle from Rolex is about HKD$1,800 each.
The Solid Gold one is about HKD$4,800

Now the one show in picture are those I bought locally in SSP Ap Liu Street, with mere HKD$180 each.

If I use it on Stainless steel model, It is OK for me... and if that is for those Day Date only, I think I will prepfer the Rolex Original. These buckles are all 14 mm width.

The Most iconic Watch in the History

Audemars Piguet has maintained its standing at the forefront of the Watch World in 1980 was simply because of the launch of the Royal Oak in 1972.

Audemars Piguet was nominated as the Top 1 of the Big Four Watches in 1980, followed by Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin and Jaeger LeCoulte. Actually Royal Oak Saved the company going bankruptcy if not for the beautiful and Timeless Design of Royal Oak created by Gerald Genta.

The brand has created the “Concept” watches, with the Royal Oak Concept leading the way from 2002 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Royal Oak, and the Royal Oak Carbon Concept unveiled in 2011.
These massive Complicated masterpieces will be forever remembered in watchmarkng industry, but definitely not the common item that common person like I can even think of owning For the rest of us, a SIMPLE Royal Oak will do, and if you ask me, even a Chronograph is not necessary – whereas a Simple movement of 2121 (1972) or 3120 (current) Automatic watch is more than enough to generate a hefty dose of Watch Envy from your friends or the one next to you!!!

Movement Ca. 2121 was actually developed by JLC’s  Cal.920 in 167, Same movement was being used on Patek Philippe Nautilus Cal. 28-255C and Vacheron Constantin Overseas Cal. 1120.

Least Appealing Rolex

Least Appealing Rolex
This is purely personal comment on these watches, don’t be feeling uneasy as watch is more or less personal affectionate item. If you like it, that would be OK!

1.Daytona Leopard
Downfall
Ref 116598SACO,  too much of a kind of unique design, seems we are carrying an animal on the arm.
May be good for Lady Gaga, but it might never be an appealing watch for men…try to think when you could wear this watch!?
Second, the price is very unfriendly!

2.Rolex Date Just mid size with full pave diamond
Datejust President Ref 68278 18K Yellow Gold with Full Pave Diamond
Downfall
Hard to wear and too small in nowadays’ requirement 31mm, might be good for lady only, but not for me.

3.Yachtmaster Ref 116681
Downfall
The horse shoe like dial is a burden on the dial.
There are five colour on it, white, Pink, red, black and blue, which seems too many!
The advertisemen  “Yacht Master” on the bezel, it happens only on this model.
Function is useless for me as I do not have a 118 Wally!
HK List Price is HKD$195,900

3. SkyDweller Ref M326939-0001
Oyster, 42 mm, white gold, arrived HK Rolex AD Nov 2012.
Since then, the sales was not so good at all
Downfall
The dial is too crowded with too many information such as Roman and Arabian numerals on the same dial.
What if we use strip hour indicators to replace the Roman Numerals, would it be better!?
The original idea of the offset centered 24 hours dial is to create an artistic effect, but the way it gives me a distorted view of the dial.
There Red Triangle indictor under the Rolex Logo could be better if replaced by a gold strip form index, I think.
This carries a price tag of HKD$380,000!  I would not consider, well on the other hand, I believe this kind of watch could be a sought after vintage watch after 25 years, if the current sale record remians low.

What is Patrizzi Dial and Tropical Dial?

Lamborghini's CEO Stephan Winklemann and His Daytona

"What is a Patrizzi dial?" According to Jake’s Rolex, Osvaldo Patrizzi began his career in Milano, Italia and went on to become the founder of the Antiquorum Auction House. Osvaldo Patrizzi is recognized as the first person to recognize watches as real objects of art, and was responsible for creating the fine watch auction marketplace.

The term "Patrizzi Dial" was originally coined because Osvaldo Patrizzi was the first person to recognize that some vintage Rolex watches had dials where certain parts of them developed a brown patina over time that gave them a beautifully aged character.

Osvaldo Patrizzi was a collector of rare Rolex models and in 2006 he put up his collection for sale which included one of these rare Daytona watches. Osvaldo Patrizzi's Daytona sold for twice as much money, and people started referring to them as Patrizzi Dial Daytona models.

So if you look closely at Lamborghini CEO, Stephan Winkelmann's Rolex Daytona, you notice it has the brown colored sub-dials, commonly referred to as a Patrizzi Dial.

Vintage Rolex watches that have discolored dials that have developed a beautiful patina are typically referred to as "Tropical" dials and if the dial is original, they typically sell for a huge premium. Here is an example of a beautiful tropical dial Rolex.

KISS Principle

KISS Principle
The principle most likely finds its origins in similar concepts, such as Leonardo da Vinci's "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication", Mies Van Der Rohe's "Less is more", Occam's razor, , or Antoine de Saint Exupéry's "It seems that perfection is reached not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away". Colin Chapman, the founder of Lotus Cars, urged his designers to "Simplify, and add lightness". Rube Goldberg's machines, intentionally overly-complex solutions to simple tasks or problems, are humorous examples of "non-KISS" solutions.
KISS is an acronym for "Keep it simple, stupid" as a design principle noted by the U.S. Navy in 1960.
The KISS principle states that most systems work best if they are kept simple rather than made complex; therefore simplicity should be a key goal in design and unnecessary complexity should be avoided. The phrase has been associated with aircraft engineer Kelly Johnson (1910–1990). The term "KISS principle" was in popular use by 1970. Variations on the phrase include "keep it stupid simple", "keep it short and simple", "keep it simple sir", "keep it super simple"…
Watch itself sometimes goes back to the basic: just to tell time…
Recently there are a lot of features that makes watch super complex to read the time and super difficult to use. Well, if a Watch is Simple enough, I believe that the focus on the watch would be on the dial, Rolex has produced once for all the simple watch with the super dial that is super difficult to make.
Those are no printed one. They are all either precious stone, gems and special rocks. Hmm.,.. go and see, if these are falling into the KISS principle!?

The Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith Wears a Casio Watch

The Movie
The Pursuit of Happyness is a 2006 American biographical drama film based on Chris Gardner's nearly one-year struggle with homelessness.
I have been watching this movie for three times, every time I see it, I found that the movie is so touching and could be a good lesson to learn for us being working as a Salesman.
Story of the Movie
In 1981, in San Francisco, the smart salesman and family man Chris Gardner (Will Smith) invested the family savings in Ostelo National bone-density scanners, an apparatus twice more expensive than x-ray with practically the same resolution. The white elephant financially breaks the family, bringing troubles to the relationship with his wife that leaves him and moves to work in a New York restaurant herself. Without money and wife (Thandie Newton) but totally committed with his 5 years old son Christopher (Jaden Smith), Chris sees the chance to fight for a stockbroker internship position at Dean Witter, vying for one career in the end of six months training period without any pay with other twenty candidates. Meanwhile, homeless, he and his son are evicted from their apartment and have to sleep on the Metro rest room and homeless shelters. With confidence and love and trust of his son, Chris rises above the obstacles to become a Wall Street legend.
While watching this movie, my emotion went up and down just as the leading role-Chris’s experience and I’ve really benefited a lot from this movie.

Some Touching Plots
There are several plots in the movie that touch me I can’t help welling up. In the metro station, Chris pretends that they’ve come back to a fancy world through the so-called “time machine” in order to console his son to have a good sleep. However, Chris himself has to endure someone knocking at the locked door angrily and shouting in a loud voice to prevent them from coming in to the rest room where his son is sleeping. In such a formidable difficult situation, strong-minded as he is, Chris simply can’t resist the feeling of loss and despair and sadly shed tears.

Lessons that we had learnt from the movie.
1. You are who you mix with
There are studies which determined that your income is the approximate weighted average of all your friends. Stick with the right people and you will rise with the tide. Stick with the wrong group and you will go under. Will Smith had a big break where he got into the exclusive box stand. There he got to know so many contacts that were much valuable than those that could be found on his cold calling list. The fact that he came with a CEO of a large pension fund also help gained him creditability. The internet age has made it very easy to network. Being a sales, the friends circle could explore more opportunity with you, as friend of your friends could possible looking for your support or your product directly. Try the business networking portal LinkedIn now.

2. Don't do a job that does not directly link reward to results
In the movie, we see Will Smith juggle a stock broking job and a medical equipment sales job together. He worked on the sales on the weekend and broking on weekdays. If the performance of your job has no strong direct link to the payout, think of ways to improve and get another second income stream. Jobs that pay you based on time as just taking away the most valuable resource of your life from you. Time is the only limited resource in the world. You cannot make time and worse still, you have no idea of how much you have left. So invest your time wisely.

3. 1 decision can make your life difficult or very good
Some decisions, like Will's decision to invest in the medical scanner, can make life more difficult than necessary. His decision to jump into stock broking however made his life much better. The point is not to avoid making big decisions in fear of making your life extremely bad, but to make sure that you always have a lifeline. Dumping your savings in something you do not understand is hardly a smart decision.

4. Determination, Motivation and Ambition are the same things
Action is the part separating thinker, dreamers from the successful.  Set goals and work for them.
If you are doing sales, apply will's mantra: "X calls=X meetings=X interested prospects= X closing=X money" Ask yourself: what is the X that you are aiming for?

5.  No luck at all
It seems to always have bad luck every day in the movie. But luck is statistically proven to be non existent. Flip a coin many times and you get even results. Work on your cold calling and you will get that X numbers of meetings. As long as in the short term you survive, there is nothing to blame on luck.

6. Money= Happiness?
With an income more than 20K, your happiness level does not increase with further increases in income. In this study, it is shown that everyone needs a decent standard of living. But once you attain that, happiness is less definable because it varies from everyone. Varied experiences and being in control of your life generally bring experiences. See Maslow hierarchy of needs if you need to know basic stuff have to be fulfilled first. Happiness means being in control of my life, having financial security and doing hard and meaningful work.  Happiness is relative, they say a happy man is one whom earns $100 more than his wife's sister's husband. Less comparison of status with other people make you content.

After all, What about myself!?

The strong will and determination can change a person's life.

What is Rolex "MacGersy"? How to Choose it!?

Who is most adorable!? Hard to make a Choice!?

Can you find the human Skull!? Where?

How to choose my Rolex, WOW, too many! How!?

I always admire Patek Philippe, Roger Dubuis or Audemars Piguet Show room, they used to Display one or two watches as the window display!

Whereas Seiko or Rolex would display "hundred Watches" at the window.

Sometimes I think if we out too many Models on a window, customers would be difficult to make a choice.

Well, what should we do?

There are a few ways:
-  Close your eye and finger point to one model, just buy it!

-  Buy All;  Only Mr. Lee, Mr. Ho or Mr. Lau could do it!

-  Go and ask yourself what do you want!?

- Or Ask you how do you want your Rolex to be!?

I think Trend could be one way to decide, as nowadays everyone talks about GMT Master II Blue Ref 116710BLNR.  Well, there is no stock… So how!?

Just Pick up one that you like, or is there a simple way to choose!?

Some guide line:
Yellow gold- Hi profile
White gold- low profile
Pink gold- a bit too much for men
Platinum- Good taste and elegancy!
Size has to match with wrist, too large a watch in a small build body looks unpleasant, same for too small a watch on a big wrist- wired!
Two Tone Date just- Chinese Favourite, especially Pink Gold and Stainless steel, it is not the trend for HK
Date Just Stainless steel- most common practical watch for all kinds of occasions
How About "MacGersy”?  A terms created by HK Snob… that stands for Sport Series!
M- Milgauss
A-Air king
C-Cosmograph Daytona
G- GMT Master II
E-Explorer
R- Rolex DeepSea
S- Submariner
Y- Yacht master

Date Just, Day Date is classified another Series! Well, each of them represents a Model Series that comes with a story, amongst them I like Submariner and Daytona Most…

Data Analysis
Out of twenty movies, there are Five watches from Rolex, and two from IWC!

Die Hard 1988
It came to my mind that the very first Die Hard movie, McClane (Bruce Willis) even goes so far as to drop Gruber out a window by unfastening Holly’s Rolex Lady DateJust , and in this action solves two problems at once: he kills the bad guy, but he also unfastens Holly from her symbol of success, feminine independence, and occupational authority over her husband.
And he dropped the Rolex from the Top of the skyscraper… downwards!
What do you think that Rolex could still be survived!?
Is that Die Hard Rolex!?
So in Short, Rolex is the internally most preferred brand of watch in action films. And might a consequence by Rolex Product marketing team to participate in the Hollywood most popular action films.

Dress Watch

Sometimes in life, we usually avoid complications, less is more, a simple uncluttered dial is one of the timeless qualities that a dress watch should fulfill. The focus should ideally be on the essence of a watch. The time in hours and minutes, that is it!

A good dress watch also needs to be discrete enough to not distract from your attire - and preferably on a thin alligator or lizard leather strap that matches your belt and shoes. Slenderness, sl
im thin cases is inevitably to tell the technical challenge of the Swiss Watch Smith in designing and making such a Watch.

There is another virtue in a classic dress watch, being of a diminutive height so that it slides easily under a shirt cuff and gives a subtle wrist presence.  No one would appreciate that you wear a Panerai under the cuff Link!

While a dress watch that uses 18KT white gold or yellow gold is must, a fine mechanical movement is a good choice, especially since this will also add value to a style of watch that is typically an heirloom. However I don’t bother to have a quartz movement.

Best of it?
-Cartier Tank
-Universal Gold Shadow 1965
-Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso
-Omega De Ville
-Rolex Cellini
-Patek Philippe Calatrava

This is no ordinary LED Display, not that the LED is not stuck on the glasses, they were embedded into the glass with almost transparent connecting wires.
There are roughly three hundred White mid power LEDs with approximately 0.3W each. That is a 90W powder rating and if that is driven by a 5V supply, the current is 18A.
How could a hidden conductor inside a glass to do that? Well, I will take a close look into it...
What I am trying to say that there is a lot of applications for LED on Advertisement. And there will be thousand ways to display the techniology in front of you!
