Hi HK Snob,

Thanks for presenting us with an interesting HK watch auction. I just looked through half of the preview catalog, which showcased a lot of Rolex models, old and new.

I was particularly struck by some of the vintage Rolex watches, at how elegant their designs were; an elegance which seem to be absent from their modern offerings.
Take for example, there's a 1950 Rolex triple/annual calendar moonphase watch called "Padellone" with a stainless steel, 38 mm case. The triple calendar windows and moonphase dial is balanced and so well laid out, that the watch could be mistaken for something from PP, VC, or other haute horology brands.

If Rolex wants to reissue a modern annual calendar complication watch, it should draw inspiration from the Padellone instead of putting out some showoff, oversized, lopsided monstrosity like the Skydweller. Rolex seems to be getting it wrong, so can you blame me for not being too enthusiastic about what it's doing nowadays?
